Mother Mary Beth Kennedy has been active in foreign missions since 1949. She and her husband, the late Elder Charles C. Kennedy Sr., began their work in Puerto Rico. In 1955 they answered the Lord's call to mission work in Liberia, West Africa, where they lived and ministered until 1963. When they returned to the United States, they maintained contact with their African students and friends, and began returning to Africa on an annual basis for short-term mission trips.
They reached out to countless numbers with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with training: education, health care, agriculture, carpentry, and much more. As they advanced in years and wisdom, they started opening the trips to others who wanted the experience of working on the mission field. Although Elder Kennedy went home to be with the Lord in 2005, Mother Kennedy has carried on the ministry by the grace of God and with the help of many. Now it is time to train others to do the work that she has done for almost 60 years.
